A new Home!

Image
I'm please to announce that one more of my paintings has found a new home!   Detail This mixed media acrylic painting  measures 48" x 48" and now belongs to fellow artist Angela Meijer . Here are "detail shots" of some of my favorite parts! Below is a patch of heavy bodied acrylic... the red drips are fluid acrylics. I love to use stencils in my work, like the one below! This mark looks like it has wings... and sometimes there are hidden words! I know this painting has found a great home where it will be admired for years to come... thanks Angela, for helping me spread my artist wings and fly! xoxo

Christmas in Paris!

Image
Christmas in Paris! Wouldn't it be fun to hop on a plane and spend the night in Paris... at Christmas time? We could walk the streets with a pastry and cafe au late... pretending we live there! Look at amazing light displays... Take pictures and people watch... Do a little holiday shopping... Visit fabulous landmarks... Watch the streets clear as dawn approaches... Welcome the new day... And then hop a plane back home! Wouldn't it be fun! {All photos are linked to the original posting...}

Mixed Media Painting... SOLD!

The challenge was to create mixed media art that could  somehow,  just by looking at it,  reach out and pull you back from the edge...  whatever your edge, or "code blue" moment might be.  We created pieces that fit as pages into a beautiful handmade box, printed a small book of our work and showed it all at the Historic Valley Junction Spring Gallery Night 2011.   Going one step further, I decided to create four 36" x 36" mixed media acrylic paintings  that I titled "After the Blues".  This was my attempt to express, in a very bright and bold way, the joy and happiness that can be found on the other side of t...

Some items for sale include original art by  Renee Mak  and  Angela Meijer , prints, cards, glass jewelry, handpainted t-shirts & scarfs, journals, polymer clay necklaces & ornaments, pure silver pendants and brand new Fuss It Up! plush pillows.   The new store is called  "A Little Bit Of Everything"  and   was just featured in the  Des Moines Register . We have  a ribbon cutting and grand opening event scheduled for November 2nd with some great food and prizes!   Below is the article as it was published...    New Kaleidoscope boutique features clothing, accessories, art and more 2:45 PM, Oct 25, 2011 | by  ...

Live painting at Fall Gallery Night!

Image
The studio was jam packed last Friday night for the  Historic Valley Junction Fall Gallery Night! As people came in and looked at the fabulous art in the Boutique, five local artists including Angela Meijer ... Ashley Lenz ... the adorable but talented Quinn... her dad Jimmy Navarro ... and me... all grabbed our brushes and painted the night away! Ashley worked on 'the caged bird' ... Quinn and Angela did an amazing collaboration piece... and Jimmy gave me a quick Pear painting lesson!  We all had lots of fun!   Thank you Quinn for showing me how you whip your hair back and forth! Pear anyone? <3
